Cosmetic Smile Design

Plan your ideal smile with clear aligners, veneers, and personalised cosmetic care. Straighten, reshape, and enhance your smile with a tailored approach.

Cosmetic smile design is a planned approach to improving the look of your smile. We consider the shape, alignment, colour, and proportion of your teeth and how they work with your lips and face. Whether you want straighter teeth, a more even shape, a brighter shade, or a full smile makeover, we can outline the options and create a tailored plan. At Brown Street Dental we offer clear aligners to straighten teeth without fixed braces, and veneers to reshape and brighten the front teeth—often in combination with whitening or other treatments.

Dr. Sunny Golwala and our team start with an assessment of your teeth, gums, and bite. We discuss your goals, show you what is possible, and explain the pros and cons of aligners vs veneers or both. Clear aligners are removable trays that gradually move teeth; veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite bonded to the front of teeth to change their shape, colour, or length. We will recommend a sequence (e.g. aligners first, then veneers or whitening) so you get a result you are happy with. Our goal is a natural-looking, confident smile that fits you.

What We Offer

Smile assessment & design

We examine your teeth, gums, and bite and discuss your goals. We may use photos, models, or digital previews to show possible outcomes. From that we create a step-by-step plan—whether that is clear aligners only, veneers only, or a combination with whitening or other care.

Clear aligners

Clear aligners are a series of removable, near-invisible trays that gently move your teeth into a better position. They are an alternative to fixed braces and are popular with adults who want straighter teeth without metal brackets. We take impressions or digital scans and work with a laboratory or aligner provider to plan your movement. You wear each set of aligners for a set time (e.g. two weeks), then move to the next. Treatment typically runs from several months to over a year depending on the case. You remove the aligners to eat and brush, so they fit easily into daily life.

  1. Assessment & Scan

We assess your teeth and bite and take impressions or a digital scan. This is sent for a treatment plan and aligner series.

  2. Review Plan & Start

We show you the predicted result and the number of aligners. Once you are happy, you receive your first sets and wear them as instructed (usually 20–22 hours a day).

  3. Progress & Refinements

You return periodically so we can check progress. Some plans include refinement aligners if small adjustments are needed at the end.

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells (usually porcelain or composite) that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They can change the shape, length, colour, and alignment of front teeth—covering gaps, chips, staining, or uneven edges. Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory from an impression or scan and typically require two visits: one to prepare the teeth and take the impression, and one to fit them. Composite veneers can sometimes be done in a single visit. We will advise whether veneers are right for you and how many teeth to cover for a balanced, natural look.

  1. Assessment & Planning

We check your teeth and gums and discuss the desired shape and shade. We may do a temporary mock-up or preview so you can see the direction of the result.

  2. Preparation & Impression

A small amount of enamel may be gently prepared so the veneer sits flush. We take an impression or scan and fit temporary veneers if needed. The permanent veneers are made in a lab.

  3. Fitting

At the next visit we bond the veneers to your teeth, check the fit and bite, and make any small adjustments. We give you aftercare advice so they last for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between clear aligners and veneers?
Clear aligners move your teeth into a new position over time—they correct crowding, spacing, and bite. Veneers cover the front of the teeth to change their shape, colour, or length; they do not move teeth. Often both are used: aligners first to straighten, then veneers to refine shape and shade if needed.
  • How long do clear aligners take?
It depends on how much movement is needed. Simple cases may take a few months; more complex alignment can take a year or more. We will give you an estimate after your assessment and scan. You wear the aligners for the recommended hours each day and change to the next set as instructed.
  • Do veneers damage your teeth?
Porcelain veneers usually require a small amount of enamel to be prepared so the veneer sits flush and looks natural. This is minimal but permanent. We only recommend veneers when the benefit outweighs this. Composite veneers may need little or no preparation. We will explain the process and alternatives so you can decide.
  • Can I have whitening and veneers together?
Yes. We often suggest whitening first so your natural teeth are at the shade you want; then we match the veneers to that shade. If you whiten after veneers, the veneers will not change colour—only natural teeth will, so it is better to whiten before having veneers fitted.
  • Are clear aligners visible when I wear them?
They are designed to be very discreet—clear plastic that sits over your teeth. Most people do not notice them in normal conversation. You remove them to eat and drink (except water), so they can be out for meals and important events if needed.
  • How long do veneers last?
With good care, porcelain veneers often last 10–15 years or more. They can chip or debond in rare cases; avoiding biting very hard objects and wearing a night guard if you grind helps. We will check them at your regular visits and advise when replacement might be needed.
